Pullach, September 26, 2018 – At the 2018 EIC Innovators‘ Summit in Berlin, FreshDetect Managing Director Oliver Dietrich was selected as the winner of the pitch competition in the food agritech category, introducing the world’s first portable measurement device for detecting the total viable count (TVC) in meat within seconds. The BFD-100 captures the data along every step of the production chain to ensure a fast and reliable quality control process, while preventing unnecessary food waste.
“We’re extremely pleased to have won the pitch in the area of food and agritech,” explains the Managing Director. “After obtaining the support of the European Union through its Horizon 2020 research and development program, this award represents another step toward raising the awareness of our technology and finding additional partners to help further develop the company and the BFD-100 portable device.”
EIC Innovators’ Summit
The EIC Innovators’ Summit is a networking platform for companies, as well as finance and business partners, to share their experiences and discover new business opportunities. On September 10 and 11, under the motto “Innovation Kitchen Europe,” numerous keynote speeches, select workshops and pitch sessions were held.
The eight pitch sessions on the main stage offered a unique opportunity for promising small-to-medium European enterprises to meet. The pitch participants were selected from the EU’s European Innovation Council. A jury comprising investors, venture capitalists and business angels evaluated and recognized the best presentations.
